Impromptu RP: Diplomatic Disaster

Working in Starfleet means having to deal with danger. Everyone, from recruits to the Fleet Admiral, realise this. A dangerous situation can happen any day, any time, but always when you least expect it. Situations can even at a place where no one would expect it. . . like GFC’s Security Offices.

It all started so calm. Two ambassadors, a Cardassian by the name of Darzeen and an alien ambassador who called his race the Wraith came to visit DS19 to discuss their relationship with the Federation. Trade negotiations, alliances, etc… were on the agenda. Both ambassadors were to be given a tour of the station by Lt.Cmdr Humbridge. During the tour was when trouble began.

Upon being escorted into a transporter room, Ambassador Darzeen suddenly activated the transporters and beamed down to the surface. There, he hid himself in the Security Office, which was unmanned at the moment. It didn’t take long for Humbridge to track Darzeen down, but by then the Cardassian had already locked himself in by erecting a force field. No one could get in or out.

Darzeen obviously knew what he was doing: the power generator for the entire GFC complex was located in the security office. . . and he had just programmed it to overload! Ambassador Darzeen quickly explained why he was doing this: After the Dominion war, the Cardassians were seen by many in the galaxy, as weak, pathetic, and in need of help.

Some, like himself, longed for the days when very mention of the word Cardassian inspired fear in the hearts of Cardassia’s enemies.

By programming the generator to explode – and taking all of Starfleet Command with it – Ambassadore Darzeen hoped to again instill fear. Cardassia would be respected as a true power, once again!

Fortunately, Lt.Cmdr Humbridge and the alien ambassador managed to stall Darzeen long enough to break through the force field and beam the Cardassian away. After that, Humbridge restored the power generator to its normal capacity. The threat was averted!

Nevertheless, it had become clear that danger lurks around every corner. . . even while at home.
