GFC Celebrates TNG 25th Anniversary
The weekend of September 29th and 30th GalaxyFleetCommand celebrated the 25th anniversary of the premiere of the series Star Trek: The Next Generation. Our engineers built a set version of Ten Forward and placed it inside the Roddenberry Centre. Throughout the weekend, people partied, hung out and reminisced about the series, crew and cast.
There was a healthy stream of people coming through the bar door over the two days it was opened and actively manned. It wasn’t just regulars either, as many new people attended and enjoyed themselves and joined the group. There are plans to re-use the Ten Forward Set in the future, perhaps placing it in a rezzer in a holodeck.
For the more adventurous, there was a little dare involved 🙂
Jaielan Resident created a copy of the skant outform which was a skirted outfit which could be worn by both men and women, so it was interesting to see which male avatars dared show their legs to the world. A few took the challenge!
For those who attended the bar over the festivities they were given a free Geordi La Forge style visor built by Andy Ketterley.
The weekend General Meeting (GM) took place in a specially made set based on Q’s Courtroom from the first TNG episode “Encounter At Farpoint”. The meeting took the format of those reading their reports standing on a circular podium where a spotlight shines on them from above and they’d have to read their report in the manner of being interrogated by the Q. Once the reports were finished, the rest of the attendees would be asked to vote if they were satisfied with the report by stating “aye” or “nay”. It was a very different and fun way of holding a GM.
The rest of the crew were made to justify humanity’s existence by being teleported to Q’s court and one by one asked to exonerate their actions in the spotlight. Wrong answers could have them and the rest of the crew removed from existence in the universe, but fortunately the Q’s took pity on them, regarding the crew of the Enterprise as a backward mishmash of races who are likely to do more damage to themselves than others. The Q’s sent both Wesley and the Captain back to the nearest earth Starbase and allowed the rest of the crew to return to their ship. Quinn Serupta game mastered a special TNG roleplay, playing the role of Jean-Luc Picard, the story had Wesley being kidnapped and the crew of the Enterprise went on a mission to find him. It was later found that the Q’s were involved and one of the continuum came to the ship and took their captain.
Overall it was a fun weekend and congratulations to Star Trek: The Next Generation for standing the test of time.

The Cardassians Are Here…
With the tension between the Federation officers stationed at DS19 and the Cardassian Union escalating over the last few months, Starfleet Central Command have come up with a solution they believe will help calm the waters. A young Federation Lieutenant has been ordered by Central Command to report to DS19 to serve as an Ambassador.
Gul Corak and his ship
Silence is all that can be heard throughout the entire station as the Cardassian ship docks at DS19. This is the first Cardassian Ship that has been allowed to dock for months and due to the new set of orders that came down from Central Command leaving the station commanders hands tied, they were forced to cooperate.
A slight hiss can be heard as the docking bay doors decompress and open. Out of the dark shadows of the Cardassian ship steps Lieutenant j.g. Mollsen, a young Cardassian Starfleet Officer chosen to serve as the ambassador.

Suddenly a figure appears from the shadows and steps into the light…
Gul Corak looks around slowly and takes in a deep breath as though he is remembering something from the past. ” Just like coming home ,” he says with a coy smile. ” Things have changed a bit since I had command of this station.” Corak pushes past the small crowd and makes his way into the main part of the station.
Lieutenant Mollsen stands at the entrance watching the Gul, then turns her attention to the station’s Commanding officer and exclaims,
“Lieutenant j.g. Kendra Mollsen reporting for duty Sir! Permission to come aboard”
