Support for Free Speech and Press
On the 7th of January, 2015, the French satirical magazine “Charlie Hebdo” (French for Charlie Weekly) was attacked by masked gunmen who shot and killed people in the office in Paris. It’s not the first time the magazine has been under threat of people attacking them. In the past, the magazine often published stories which were reviling groups of people. But this is part of satire.
As a result of those attacks, a worldwide support of free speech and press and freedom under the slogan The author of this article supports the idea of free speech and press. Recently, the ad boards in the sandbox were changed to show this slogan instead of the GFC logo.
The author would like to underline the fleets support for the idea of free speech and press in the universe. My thoughts are with the victims and families of the shooting in Paris.
The slogan appeared on the ad boards for a short time, and are be available again for rental.

GalaxyFleetCommand Winter Ball 2014 – The Orion House
On the 10th of January, 2015, the GalaxyFleetCommand Winter Ball took place to honor the hard work of our members and award and promote those who deserve it. Most GFC officers, all in dress uniforms, gathered at 2pm SLT in front of the Roddenberry Center in the Galaxy SIM to enter the building by using a special turbo lift. Inside, it was nicely decorated by our research and engineering team. The decoration was based on the Orion colony from TOS.

The official program started when all were sitting at their tables with the Senior Admirals, FADM Bixby and VFADM Mechanique, sitting on the chairs on the stage. The first point on the agenda was a role-play featuring the Orion culture with dancing Orion girls.
After this, the ceremony started. VFADM Mechanique called the officers of the fleet who received an award or promotion in alphabetical order, and in groups, to the stage. They were asked to sit on pillows until they were asked to give a speech. After each group was finished, the next group of officers was called to the stage.
At the end of the ceremony, all GFC members present walked out of the Roddenberry Center to enjoy a nice fireworks display. With this, the main part of the Ball came to an end. Back inside again the after-show party started with music and dancing all night long.
GFC Communications congratulates all awarded and promoted fleet members. We look forward to the next ball.
