GFC Summer Ball 2015 – Live long and prosper
On Saturday 18th July 2015 GFC held its summer ball. This year the theme was “Vulcan – Live long and prosper”. The balls take place to honour the hard work of our members and award and promote those who deserve it.
Most GFC officers, all in dress uniforms, gathered at 1pm SLT in front of the Roddenberry Centre in the Galaxy SIM for a pre ball party. The Galaxy Plaza was decorated with a circle of stones and statue of Vulcan guards. The centre of the plaza was filled with a red carpet and stairs with fireplaces at the side leaded to a platform in front of Roddenberry Centre.
At 2pm SLT the dancing came to a closing point and at the platform shuttle arrived. 2 officers of the fleet boarded each shuttle and the auto pilot brought the officers to Sovereign sim. On the way the shuttle passed Constellation sim, GFC Tactical Camp in Sovereign and entered the Sovereign wormhole. In the orbit of Vulcan the shuttles came back to normal space, passing mount Seleya the shuttles landed in front of a plaza at the bottom of the Vulcan’s holy mountain.
When all shuttles with the GFC officers and the guest have reached Vulcan and gathered on the plaza a role-play started. It was centred on a story of the Katra of Surak (Vulcan philosopher and scientist founding the modern Vulcan civilization).
After the first part of the role-play finished all where asked to claim the stairs up to temple on top of mount Seleya. Half way up the role-play continued with the final saving of Suraks Katra.
Finally at the top of the temple we recognized the images of Star Trek actors who passed away lately (e.g. Leonard Nimoy (Spock) and Grace Lee Whitney (Yeomen Rand)). The members of the fleet took a moment to honour the fallen fallow Starfleet officers and comrades.
Reaching the other side of the temple the officers stood in front of a small path leading to the platform above mount Seleya. Where the Vulcan priest brought back the Katra of Surak to his dead body. This ended the role-play which started at the foot of the mountain.
Now the formal program could start with awarding and promoting our officers and members who worked so hard to help the senior admirals leading the fleet into a successful future. VFADM Mechanique and FADM Bixby where the chairs of the event and leaded through the program, calling the officers to the podium to say few words when receiving a commendation.
The ball came to its end with presenting a newly created video to celebrate the GFC anniversary. For details of the video please see the following post: GFC anniversary video.
After this it was time to celebrate the promoted and awarded officers. Therefore the party continued on the plaza at the bottom of mount Seleya.
The author of this post likes to congratulate all awarded and promoted officers, and looks forward to the next ball: Live long and prosper.

Last Gibraltar RP in SL – Goodbye sims!
In order to say a proper goodbye to both Constellation and Sovereign, and in short term also to the RP sets in Aeon – as they’ll probably be moved to Inworldz – I decided to bring back the USS Gibraltar for one last time. Among the crew who joined me for this last epic adventure, were Commodore Kieran Braveheart as XO, Admiral Sereana Westland as Security Chief and Captain LKG01A Duke as helmsman.
The adventure started simple enough: the crew of the Gibraltar got home after a lengthy scientific mission. But instead of starting their shoreleave, they found that Earth was caught in some sort of temporal flux. Signals from all times flew in each direction: radiowaves, messages about the NX-01 launching, and even information about the destruction of the Enterprise C at Narenda.
Before the Gibraltar crew arrived at Earth though, they were hammered by temporal waves coming from the planet. They threatened to tear the engines apart, but luckily Commander Braveheart devised a temporal field which was more or less in sync with the temporal waves that kept hitting the ship. Unfortunately though, once the Gibraltar reached Earth, the field failed. The warpcore couldn’t stand the pressure, and threatened to explode. There was nothing the crew could do about that: Captain McMillan reluctantly gave the order to abandon ship. Moments later, from a shuttlecraft, the Bridge crew saw the Gibraltar explode in a blaze of fire.
But there was no time to mourn. When the shuttle landed on Earth, the four remaining Gibraltar crewmembers noticed that buildings from several times were put together. It was as if the past, present and future were merging into one. The planet couldn’t hold out much longer, that was for certain. Quickly, the group scattered to find the source of this temporal flux. Strangely though, they found all the buildings to be empty… and no people to be found. Where was everyone?
Finally, they found the source of the temporal flux: it was the domed building that was once the GFC Library. Destroying it seemed the only option… so they fired the shuttle’s phasers, and…
Everything turned white.
Then, the crew suddenly found themselves back on the Gibraltar, before they detected the temporal flux. Had something happened, or had it all been an illusion? A quick scan of Earth showed no anomalies, so if there was something there, it was gone now. Slightly reassured, but still filled with many, many questions, the Gibraltar crew piloted the ship home. It was time for a well deserved shoreleave…
