2014 Summer bi-annual Ball
This summer, the theme for the bi-annual Ball was ‘Klingons’. It was set in the Klingon Village in Sovereign, where our very own richmerk (Merky) had constructed a wonderful Klingon hall, complete with barrels of bloodwine, giant statues and a (blood-) red carpet. It wasn’t just the setting which was amazing, though: at precisely 2 PM SLT, a Klingon stepped forward and announced the start of this auspicious event. The Admiralty’s speech was heard, giving us all some useful information about the Klingon culture.
At the end of the speech though, the Ball was rudely interrupted by a bunch of Klingons from a rival house, disturbing the party! This was all part of a RP, which finally ended up being a love story! Who’d expected that? The RP culminated in a beautiful, explosive (literally!) dance.
After that, Admiral Mechanique started calling forward the people who had received an award, or a promotion. At the end of the Ball, there was a chance for everyone to let their hair down, dance, or just get drunk on a barrel of bloodwine.
This definitely was a Ball to remember! A great big thank-you goes out to everyone who made this possible. This would’ve been impossible without you all!
And of course, congratulations to all of you who got promoted, or who have received an award. GFC can’t function without you!
The next Ball will be in the winter. Until then, we’ll have some great memories of the 2014 summer Ball. Q’apla!

GFC at the SL Sci-Fi Con
GalaxyFleetCommand participated in this years “SL Sci-Fi Con”. This annual convention is organised by the Sci-Fi Alliance and supports Relay for Life of Second Life (official charity of the American Cancer Society). This year there were 6 sims full of sci-fi creations, booths’, groups and events. So GFC was one of more then 100 exhibitors. Our booth was located in the Magrathea Gold Sector.
Our booth was based on the headquarter of our group and was build by our research and engineering team. Inside the booth you can get more information on our group and the role-plays we offer. You also find a desk and a teleport to the Phoenix Station in sovereign sim.
I like to thank all the people who helped during the preparation of the event as well as during it.
